Hello Eagle class
I hope you have had a lovely weekend and had a good rest from home schooling. Toffee and Fudge certainly enjoyed some TV time this weekend. Here they are watching Soccer AM with the rest of my football mad family. They have already been to their first match before Lockdown to watch Aidan play in goal, but fell asleep for the whole match 🤣
Here are your activities for today.
Phonics
Today’s Set 2 sound is “ir - whirl and twirl”. It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it will be been removed.
TOP TIP: At school we are pausing the video as Rosie asks us the write the word. That way we know if the children can write the work independently, or whether they are simply copying Rosie. They need to write it on their own.
When the lesson has finished I would like you to take a break before joining the page again. Now I would like you to watch the Set 2 spelling video to match today’s sound. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil. You will need your grown up to keep pausing the video to give you time to write and check your words, as Rosie might be working faster or slower than you.
Reading

Don't forget to get your grown-up to ask you today's questions.

English/Talk4Writing - The Three Little Pigs
Thank you for all of your wonderful video’s of you performing The Three Little Pigs. You have really made your teachers smile.
Today we are going to make our own story paths. We have used this method lots of times at school over the last term.
First of all get your grown up to draw a large reversed S on a large piece of paper.
Next ask your child to add their own pictures to sequence the story. We use an open book to represent “Once upon a time,” and a sun to represent “early one morning” Next ask them to draw simple pictures in the sequence of the story eg the house of straw, the house of sticks, the house of bricks until they get to the end of the story. (They can look at the original map if they forget the sequence)
Once they have completed all of the pictures then we ask the child to tell us the story. You will need scribe the story and write the actual words they say (word for word) next to each picture as they talk it through. This is where you will find out if your child has internalised the text. We have been amazed at how many children are able to tell the story word for word using the high level of language the Takk4Writing texts teach them. There are examples of other story paths on your child’s Tapestry account if you look back.Once it’s complete please add it to your child’s Tapestry account so we can share them as a class.
Maths
During maths over the next two weeks we will be looking at the Numbers 11-15. A new number will be introduced every two days by a Numberblocks episode and an activity set by me. We will then follow this up the next day by watching the episode again and then completing a home learning activity sheet for that number.
Today we are introducing number 11. Please watch Series 3: Eleven.
This is one of my all time favourite episodes and last years class loved this activity in school.
Please could you recreate the football pitch and make you own two teams of 11 players. You could use blocks if you have them, you could draw the 11 characters and number blobs, you could even use your toys! It could be teddy bears v dolls, or even super hero’s v baddies.
Don’t forget to add the goals and ball. Make sure you have 11 players on both teams. Can you play a game against your grown-up? Don’t forget to write down your score.
Please add a photograph onto your Tapestry account.
Afternoon tasks.
This week we are going to the DOUGH DISCO!!!!!
You will need a small ball of play dough or soft plasticine. If you do not have any dough you could try a small soft ball you could squeeze, or even a scrunched up piece of paper.
Eagle class love Shonette Bason Wood who invented Dough disco. They call her “the crazy lady”
Other Dough disco songs we use are:
Story time
Have a great day of learning and remember to add it to Tapestry.
