Hello from the Eagle Class Team.

A big welcome from the Eagle class team here at Carlton-in-Snaith Primary School.

This is going to be the blog for our new Eagle class until we finally get to meet each other after lockdown.

We will share lots of information about what it will be like when you start school, what you will do when you are here, and who your teachers will be. We will also use this blog to enjoy getting to know each other before we finally meet as a class.

We hope you are going to enjoy our journey together, we are certainly looking forward to teaching you.

Did you know a baby eagle is called an eaglet?

Welcome to Carlton Primary School

This is the sign for Carlton in Snaith Primary School. You will see it as you come to school in a morning.

When you arrive in a morning you will wait with your Parents or carer and come through this door at the front of school.

Then you will hang your coat up in this cloakroom

Then you an choose your dinner by putting your card on this board .
You can choose to have a hot meal, a jacket potato or a sandwich.
If you don’t want school dinners you can bring a packed lunch.

We eat our dinner in the school hall.

We eat our dinner from these blue trays

Sometimes we play in the classroom.

At other times we play in our outdoor area.

At playtime we play outside with the older children on the playground or field.
We have a buddy from year 6 who takes care of us.

We have a lovely friend who watches over us on the playground.
Do you know who this is?

Make a Chatterbox

Over the Summer we would like you to make a Chatterbox.

This is a shoe box, decorated with wrapping paper, favourite pictures or stickers, with your child’s name on it.

You will need to work with your child to fill it with things that are special to your child and their family. There is no set thing to go in the box, it’s entirely up to you.  It could be photographs, leaflets for places you like to visit or postcards from places you have been to.  You could add small toys, pictures you have drawn, booklets about yourself, your pets or your family.

Please bring it when you first start school. We will use it as a prompt when we chat to your child. It’s a lovely way to find out about your child’s interests and hobbies, as we find it encourages the children to talk to new adults about something very familiar to them.

Here are some examples from last year’s class. We photographed the children’s chatterbox and I scribed exactly what the child told us. We then displayed these so that we could get to know each other.
