Home learning with Oliver

Oliver has had a very busy 2 weeks, he has really enjoyed looking at mouses adventure! It was so funny! He was able to put the story in the correct sequence and told me all of his favourite parts!

Oliver was able to spell his name with his letter cards, he then found objects that all had the same letters in them.

We have looked at the different parts of a flower, Oliver was able to name the stem, roots, leaves and petals. Whilst looking at the flowers we found a GIANT spider. Oliver was very brave and held him- he had 8 hairy legs!

Today Oliver went to the finger gym, he worked on his pincer grip, pegging all of the pegs to the blankets!

We also made a self portrait with some natural resources found in the garden!

See you all tomorrow ðŸ˜Š

Home learning with Elsie

I have just been sent these lovely photographs of Elsie working hard at home.  It’s great to see her outdoors enjoying time doing what she loves.

Picture news

Every Wednesday we will share Picture news as a class. We look at a British Value and discuss how it relates to everyday life by talking about a picture and answering questions.

Here is this weeks picture news to share with your child.

Meet Oscar and his wonderful home learning.

Hi my names Oscar, my birthday is in April and I'm 4 years old. I like to tell everyone I meet that I am 4!

I have an 11 week old baby sister called Olivia, I give her a blanket and dummy when she needs it and I’ve held her twice! I like to leave mummy to look after her but I do say goodnight to her before bed.
I have two dogs called Buttons and Coco, Coco is my favourite!
I love to ride my bike and scooter, play football, catch, anything outside! I love to help my daddy do jobs and my next door neighbour! Over the summer I have helped them both in the garden. I have been talking about starting school since February, September was a long time away! I am very happy to have started school and cannot wait to go back when we can :)

We have done some of our homework, we have done counting with toys.

Finding things that begin with O (not very easy!)

Doing a poster about me :)

And practising with my Mummy's pegs that I love to clip to the bottom of the washing, I used my left and my right hand :)

See you all soon! Amy (mummy) and Oscar
Xx

Home learning with Alice

Alice can’t wait to get back to school next week.

Here is her wonderful home learning. She has been counting with natural resources and also using them to make a face.

                                            I love this Alphabet hunt.

Eliza has sent me these pictures of her home learning. They look wonderful. Well done Eliza.

Eliza has enjoyed doing these activities in our garden. The wind did make it quite tricky but we managed a get a quick photo before everything was blown away.

Home Learning - Week 2

Hi

We hope you are feeling well. We are missing being with you so much and we can’t wait until we are all back together again soon.

This week I would like you to look at the following activities.

Maths

Please use the White Rose Home learning maths activities for week one. There is a new video to watch each day and a practical maths activity to do together. Here is the link to the page. Please make sure you start on Early Years - Week 1.

English

For English Home learning we use Talk4Writing booklets. This booklet has two weeks of home learning within it and encourages your child to talk about the story, and develops a wide range of vocabulary. If you feel that some parts of this booklet are too advanced at this point in the year (eg phonics carrots page) then please skip these pages. The main aim is to enjoy and discuss the story.

Here is the link to the booklet

Understanding the World -  The world around where I live! Can you go on a Plant and Flower Hunt?

Art - can you make a picture using petals or leaves? Here are some ideas.

If you would like to share your creation with the rest of the class then please email a photograph to mrssmith2020@carlton-in-snaith.n-yorks.sch.uk

I am currently in the process of setting up Tapestry accounts for the children and you will receive an email invitation. Once accepted you can add photographs onto it and I will then be able to add these to our Class Blog.

Home learning with George

We have out first piece of home learning this afternoon from George. It’s great to see he’s out in the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine. Here’s what he has been up to this week so far.

Today we've been out to our local woods for a quick picnic and to look for natural resources to make a self portrait. George chose a log and used moss, twigs, bark, acorns and grass to make his face.

We've also been on the Twinkl site and downloaded an 'I Spy The Letter G' worksheet. There were lots of letters on the sheet and George had to pick out all the G and g's and colour them in.

He's also been doing some simple addition with dinosaurs from the Twinkl site too. One of his favourite activities is to practise his cutting and sticking. We gave him some superhero shapes to cut out which he then stuck on with Pritt Stick.

George has enjoyed doing a dough disco with big sister Freya to strengthen his muscles for writing. His favourite move is when you have to lift your legs up to pass the dough underneath your body!

George also chose to make his own 'Chief' hat out of paper that he found from the printer and feathers. The only thing he had help was with the staples and measuring it to fit his head!

We will keep looking at the blog. The next thing we would like to try is the poster all about My Favourite Things!

Best wishes
Nikki & George

Home learning - Week 1.

Hi Everyone. I hope you are all OK and enjoying the sunshine ☀️

Here are some activities you could have a look at this week at home.

All about me - My favourite things!

Can you make a poster showing your favourite things. This could be favourite food, drink, animals, television shows, colour, toys, things you like to do, hobbies.  Here is an example to help.

(This is an American example - hence the spelling)
Maths

Can you take your numbers outdoors?

Ask a grown up to write the Numbers 0-10 on the floor with chalk or on pieces of paper. Can you find natural objects to make groups to match the numbers. You can extend this to 20 if needed.

English

Can you go in a hunt around your house and find all the objects that start with the same letter as your name? Can you extend this to other letters of the alphabet. Remember to use letter sounds, not letter names eg a not A.

How many Nursery Rhymes do you know? Can you learn a new Nursery rhyme this week while you are at home? There are some good ones on this website.

Here is the link to the website.

Physical development

To get ready to write we need to strengthen our shoulders, core and fingers. We do this by going to the Finger gym! This week I would like you work on strengthening your pincer grip by using your finger and thumb. Can you practise opening and closing your Mum’s clothes pegs?  Can you peg them to things using both your left and your right hand?

Creative Area

Can you create a self-portrait using natural resources? Here are some ideas.

If you would like to share any of your work with the rest of Eagle Class please send it to:

Hello from Elsie

My name is Elsie and I have 2 homes! One in Carlton at my daddies and a farm in Howden with my mummy.

I don’t have any brothers or sisters but I do have a pony called Bow.
I went to Kids Korner pre school in Barlow.
I enjoy riding my pony, playing outside and baking with my grandma.
I love making friends and can’t wait to meet my new class mates!

Hello from Ava-Grace

My name is Ava-Grace, my birthday is 10th March and I am very excited but nervous to meet everyone this week. I live in Carlton with my Mummy, Daddy, Little sister Evelyn and my dog Buddy.

I used to go to nursery at Snaith Primary School where I had lots of friends.

I like gymnastics, I go to group on Monday’s and have just moved up groups as I’m getting better. I also go to swimming lessons but the nasty germs put a stop to that so the classes are starting up again soon.

I like to go camping with my family, we’ve recently been to Flamingo land camping and I loved the rides.

See you all soon :)
