Her channel has lots of video's on her channel called Spread the Happiness TV

Our favourite dough disco dance with Shonette is Days of the week

Funky Feet Music - play dough disco
Dough disco - If you're happy and you know it!

Tuesday 18th January 2022

Good morning Alps class

We hope you enjoyed painting yesterday as much as we did. Here is today’s home learning.

English/Talk4Writing

Please start today's lesson by performing your Three Little Pigs Story. At school we would perform the story every day.

Today we are going to remind ourselves of the story again by using some picture cards to sequence it.
Can you cut out the picture cards yourself and then put them into the correct sequence on the story map.
Now can you glue them into place. Can you add some labels to the map eg pig, wolf, straw, sticks, bricks. Remember, we are encouraging the children to write independently. Ask the children to Fred talk the word and then write down the sounds they can hear. I do not expect them to spell everything correctly but would like to see any phonic sounds they have covered. Remember to use your phonics mats to find any sounds you are unsure about.

Music

Today I have added a link for an on-line music lesson for the Three Little Pigs. This is an activity where your child can add sound effects to the story. There is  a demonstration video for the activity, a video to learn the tune to the song,  and even the option to print out pig stick puppets.  Your child will need three different instruments with different sounds to represent the houses being blown down.  Don't worry if you don't have any instruments, you could use a kitchen instruments eg a pan and wooden spoon, a tin or bottle filled with something like rice and two tubes/sticks to bang together. I hope you have fun!

Ice Sculptures

At school last week we began to make ice sculptures. Can you have a go at home?
Go on a walk outside and make a collection of small leaves, twigs, pine cones, small flowers.
Arrange the items in the bottom of a plastic pot or tray.
Add a looped piece of string or wool that dangles into your pot.
Next fill the pot with water.
Place it outside overnight.

The next day go outside and see it it’s changed!

Here are the sculptures we made at school last year. We hung some of them up inside the classroom and hung the rest outside on the fence for the day.

We hung these inside the classroom
We hung these outside.
We checked for changes throughout the day. This is what we saw!

By the end of the day this is what was left inside and out

Can you spot any changes in the ice sculptures?
Talk to your grown up about the changes you can see.
Why do you think this has happened?

We hope you enjoy making your own ice sculptures, we’d love to see them.

Tuesday 11th January 2022

Good morning Alps class, here is today's learning.

English/Talk4Writing - The Three Little Pigs

Today we are going to make our own story paths. We have used this method lots of times at school over the last term.

First of all get your grown up to draw a large reversed S on a large piece of paper.

Next ask your child to add their own pictures to sequence the story. We use an open book to represent “Once upon a time,” and a sun to represent “early one morning”  Next ask them to draw simple pictures in the sequence of the story eg the house of straw, the house of sticks, the house of bricks until they get to the end of the story. (They can look at the original map if they forget the sequence)

Once they have completed all of the pictures then we ask the child to tell us the story. You will need scribe the story and write the actual words they say (word for word) next to each picture as they talk it through.  This is where you will find out if your child has internalised the text. We have been amazed at how many children are able to tell the story word for word using the high level of language the Takk4Writing texts teach them.

Maths

Please start by watching the Numberblocks episode 0 on BBC iPlayer series 3.
