Wow, can you believe it’s the last day of half-term. I am sure you and your Grown ups are all ready for a big rest. Here is your last day of learning.
Phonics
Today we are going to re-cap some of the “Special friends” and trickier sounds we covered in Set 1. Today is qu. It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it has been removed.
Now I would like you to watch the Set 1 word time video with Gareth. Finally I would like you to join Sara on the spelling video. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil. This time the words are simple and you should be able to write them quickly before Sara writes it for you.
Talk4Writing
Today is the final day of our Three Little Pigs Talk4Writing unit. Today we are going to tell our own stories following the story paths we made on Monday.
This can be done in two ways. You can either tell the story to your Grown-up and they can scribe the story you tell on your story map, or you film yourself telling your story with your story path or act it out with actions.
Once you have finished please add it to Tapestry so we share our stories with each other.
Maths - time
An introduction to o’clock.
Today I would like you to make your own paper plate clock. This can be a simple or as complicated as you want to make it. I don’t mind what design you use but it needs to have two hands that you can move. The hands could be attached using a split pin or even a blob of blue tack.
Here are some ideas.
As you are making your clock talk to your child about where the numbers are placed. Once you have completed the clock explain that there are two different hands. The long minute hand and the short hour hand.
Talk to them about how the long hand moves faster around the clock than the short hand. Practise moving the long hand around the clock and talk about how every time it goes all the way round from 12 to 12 it’s an hour (you could say this is 60 minutes as well). Then show them that every time it completes an hour the short hand moves to the next number.
Next show them how to make 1 o’clock. Now show them other o’clock times until they grasp that the long hand always points to 12. Now it’s their turn. Say lots of o’clock times until they feel confident. You could reinforce this throughout the day in the hour by asking your child to read and make the time. Once you feel they are secure have a listen to this story, What’s the time Mr Wolf read by Debi Gliori. As the story moves along encourage your child to read and make the times it shows.
You may want to pause the video to make the time on your clock.
The children at school love to play “What’s the time Mr Wolf”
They might give you a demonstration.
Afternoon activities
Valentine’s Day
On Sunday it is Valentine’s Day. Why not make a card for someone in your family to show them how much you love them. Here are some ideas.
Don’t forget to tell them how much you love them inside.
Story time
You will need to open it using PowerPoint and click the speaker icon to hear me read.
