Tuesday 12th January

Good morning. I hope you are all feeling well and are ready for your new learning.

Phonics

Today’s Set 2 sound is “oo - look at a book”.   It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it has been removed.

When the lesson has finished I would like you to take a break before joining the page again. Now I would like you to watch the Set 2 spelling video to match today’s sound. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil.  You will need your grown up to keep pausing the video to give you time to write and check your words, as Rosie might be working faster or slower than you.

English - Talk4Writing - The Three Little Pigs.

Today we will introduce our text. In the Talk4Writing process we begin by learning the text. This is called internalising.  This can take a few days.  The children begin by listening to the story without any pictures.

Please listen to this video of Mrs Smith reading of the story.  Listen to the story lots of times encouraging your child to join in with the refrains that repeat throughout the story.

Maths

Numberblocks Episode Series 3 - episode 12  “Numberblock Rally”  Here’s the link to watch the show.

Today’s programme is about subtraction.  In the show the Numberblocks are racing in their cars. As the cars bump over the rocks part of the car breaks away. Part of the car is taken away eg 6 - 2 = 4

Can you practise taking away this today. You can do this practically with anything around your house. You could use fruit, sweets, toys, blocks. Can you record the numbers you take away?

In school we use Numicon to help us visualise subtraction.  Have a look at these.

Afternoon activities

I absolutely loved watching some of your Yoga this week on Tapestry. It really made me smile.

This week we are looking at The Three Little Pigs.  Here is the link to a fun Three Little pigs Yoga lesson.

Our Topic this half term is called Location, Location.

As part of our learning we will be starting by looking at the village we live in.  This week for your on-going task I would like you to look at the activity below.

Eagle Class Ongoing Task

We are all very lucky to live in such a nice community.  For our new ongoing project I would like you
to think about the village that you live in. What are the landmarks in your village?  Can you draw a plan.

We have lots of interesting churches, shops, schools, Drax power station, and houses including Carlton towers. Choose a landmark that interests or is special to you. What do you know about it?
Why is it special to you? When was it built? Can you draw it? Could you make a model of it using boxes or Lego?

I hope you enjoy learning about your village. Don’t forget to add your home learning to Tapestry.
