Monday 25th January

Hello I hope you have had a lovely weekend. I spent lots of time walking Toffee and Fudge trying to tire them out so they would sleep all night.  Here they are checking out the village flood plain. Toffee really enjoyed sliding and jumping in icy puddles. Poor Fudge doesn’t like to get her feet wet, but loves picking up sticks and digging in mud.

Phonics

Today’s Set 2 sound is “igh - fly high”.   It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it has been removed.

TOP TIP:  At school we are pausing the video as Rosie asks us the write the word. That way we know if the children can write the work independently, or whether they are simply copying Rosie. They need to write it on their own

When the lesson has finished I would like you to take a break before joining the page again. Now I would like you to watch the Set 2 spelling video to match today’s sound. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil.  You will need your grown up to keep pausing the video to give you time to write and check your words, as Rosie might be working faster or slower than you.

Talk4Writing

Today we are going to to look at some words to describe the pigs and the Wolf. These special describing words are called adjectives. Look at the picture below. Can you think of three words to describe pigs 1 and 2, pig 3 and the Wolf. Ask your grown-up to make a list of your words.

1st and 2nd pig.              3rd pig.                   The big bad Wolf

Maths

Today I would like you to watch unlucky number 13 again.
The children at school loved the different styles of music in this episode.

Afternoon activities

Today we are going back to the DOUGH DISCO!!!!!

You will need a small ball of play dough or soft plasticine. If you do not have any dough you could try a small soft ball you could squeeze, or even a scrunched up piece of paper.

If you would like to make your own dough here is a simple no cook recipe. You can make if more exciting by adding food colouring or something to change the smell, colour or texture eg cocoa powder makes it smell like chocolate. At school we have added berries, glitter, and even Chinese spice.

Here are two new dough disco songs to learn.

Other Dough disco songs we use are:
