Thursday 4th February

Good morning. It was so great to see you all yesterday afternoon on Zoom. I hope you all enjoyed learning about 3D shapes and going on a scavenger hunt to search for them.

Phonics

Today’s Set 2 sound is “ou - shout it out”.   It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it has been removed.

TOP TIP:  At school we are pausing the video as Rosie asks us the write the word. That way we know if the children can write the work independently, or whether they are simply copying Rosie. They need to write it on their own

When the lesson has finished I would like you to take a break before joining the page again. Now I would like you to watch the Set 2 spelling video to match today’s sound. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil.  You will need your grown up to keep pausing the video to give you time to write and check your words, as Rosie might be working faster or slower than you.

English

Today we are going back into the Forest. Have a look at this picture and talk to your grown-up about what you can see. Now answer the questions.

Don’t forget to keep learning the words for The Three Little Penguins. Can you add some actions? Are yours as funny as the ones Mrs Bramley and Mrs Chiverton used today for slipping and sliding 🤣

Maths - 3D shape

Afternoon activities

Today we are going to take our second look at recycling. First of all I would like to have a look at this CBBC video to see how they explain The Environment.

Did you see the Tiddlers on the video with Mr Bloom making a ‘rot pot’ using a clear bottle, garden waste and cardboard/paper. Could you make a rot pot?

Mr Bloom says it takes 6 weeks to make compost. We should hopefully be back at school by then and we could plant a seed in your home made compost.

Stuck in the mud!

The third little pig has been eating too many cakes and now he is stuck in a hole. Can we rescue him?

I have seen some superb ideas today of how we are going to rescue the third little pig from the mud. I have read some amazing writing and can see some great use of phonics. I am very proud of how well everyone is doing with their writing, especially with their letter formation.

The children at school decided the fireman would fill the hole with water with his hose and the pig would swim out.  This really made Mrs Chiverton and I laugh.

Can a pig swim? We decided to find out.Take a look at this video.

Here is your wonderful writing.

The third little pig has been eating too many cakes and is very heavy.

What has happened to the third little pig?
Who is going to rescue him?
How can we get him out of the hole?

Can you write 3 sentences to tell me what has happened to the third little pig. Remember to “Fred Talk” your words and use your sound mat to help you. Be careful to sit your letters on the lines carefully and leave finger spaces between each word.
