Monday 22nd February

Hello Eagle Class

I hope you have all had a lovey restful half-term with your families and are ready to to start your Home learning again. Here are today’s activities.

Phonics

We have now covered our Set 2 sounds twice using the Read, write inc online videos. In preparation for coming back to school I would like you to look at the following activity each day.

ay - may I play

  • Say the sound and learn the rhyme.
  • Practise reading the words using “Fred talk”
  • Can you read any of the words using “Fred in your head”
  • Ask your grown-up to read the words for you to write independently.
  • Now pick three words and write a sentence for each word.
  • Remember to use a finger space after each word.

Reading

Mrs Bramley’s phonics group - Red ditty book 9 - Cluck

Remember to look at this video every day to practise your speedy green words.

Don’t forget to ask your Grown-up to ask you today’s questions.

Mrs Smith’s big phonics group - New ditty 4 - in the pan

Mrs Smith’s small phonics group - Sound blending book 6

Oh no!

Mr Cooper has been very worried this week while he has been working in school on his own. He told me that there have been some unusual things happening and he feels that he is being watched. Here are some clues he found over in the Forest school area.

He also heard some strange noises at night

  • What do you think has made those marks on the trees?
  • What are those strange grey and brown furry looking lumps on the ground? What are those white flakes sticking out of the lumps?
  • What type of animal has made those tracks in the mud?
  • What is the noise Mr Cooper heard?
Using all the clues you tell your grown up who or what is watching Mr Cooper?
Can you describe what it looks like?
Where do you think it is living?

Maths - Number 16 - Time to start the party

Today we meet Number 16 for the first time as he “starts the party” this is a great episode with very catchy music.

In the episode 16 splits into parts in lots of different ways eg he splits into two parts to make two 8’s.

2 lots of 8 is 16
Can you look at the other ways he splits and write the sums to match.
You can decide how to record how 16 can be split into parts.

You could draw the blocks in groups or you could do it practically and write the number sentence to match your groups.

Can you do the same for any other numbers? How about 8, 10, 12 or 14?

Afternoon activities

Art - The mystery creature

Can you draw, paint or make a model of the creature watching Mr Cooper?
I would like the children to draw/paint this independently (no guided drawing today as we are looking at this tomorrow afternoon)

I hope you enjoy listening to today’s story.
