Friday 5th February

Wow, I can’t believe it’s Friday already. What a very busy week we have had.

I can’t wait for this afternoon. I am so excited to meet all of your furry friends 🐶🐱🐰

 Phonics

Today’s Set 2 sound is “oy - toy for a boy”.   It will be uploaded at 9.30 and you have 24 hours to watch it before it has been removed.

TOP TIP:  At school we are pausing the video as Rosie asks us the write the word. That way we know if the children can write the work independently, or whether they are simply copying Rosie. They need to write it on their own

When the lesson has finished I would like you to take a break before joining the page again. Now I would like you to watch the Set 2 spelling video to match today’s sound. You will need your pink homework book and a pencil.  You will need your grown up to keep pausing the video to give you time to write and check your words, as Rosie might be working faster or slower than you.

Remember to look at this video every day to practise your speedy green words.

Don’t forget to get your grown-up to ask today’s questions.

Talk4Writing

Today is day 3 of learning our new innovated text The three little Penguins

Today I would like you to draw the story path for the three little penguins on an inverted S (like we did for the three little pigs) and ask your grown up to scribe your story telling.  I can’t wait to see your figure of 8 penguins.

Maths - prepositions (positional language)

Today we are looking at positional language. These are words like on, under, next to, behind, over,  in front of, beside. This is an area that came up on our base-line assessment that we need to work on with the class.

Watch this PowerPoint and ask your child to tell you “Where is the Puppy?”
Initially don’t tell them the language so that you have an idea of the vocabulary they need to work on, then you can drop the word they need to learn into everyday situations at home eg can you get me the book on the table. You can make it into a game using a chair.  Can you stand behind the chair? Can you sit on the chair?

Afternoon activities

This afternoon we are meeting at 1.30 for our Live zoom lesson

Today it’s all about taking turns, speaking with confidence and listening to each other.

It’s bring your pet (or teddy) to Zoom day!

If you would like to show, and tell us about your pet or teddy today please use the thumbs up icon on your screen to show me you would like to take part. Alternatively if you want us to see your pet but you do not want to speak he/she could sit with to take the call.

Story time

How would feel about having a dragon for a pet?

Have a listen to When a dragon came to stay read by the Author Carly Hart.

I hope you have a lovely family weekend. See you all on Monday for our final week of learning before our half term break.
