Make a Chatterbox

Over the Summer we would like you to make a Chatterbox.

This is a shoe box, decorated with wrapping paper, favourite pictures or stickers, with your child’s name on it.

You will need to work with your child to fill it with things that are special to your child and their family. There is no set thing to go in the box, it’s entirely up to you.  It could be photographs, leaflets for places you like to visit or postcards from places you have been to.  You could add small toys, pictures you have drawn, booklets about yourself, your pets or your family.

Please bring it when you first start school. We will use it as a prompt when we chat to your child. It’s a lovely way to find out about your child’s interests and hobbies, as we find it encourages the children to talk to new adults about something very familiar to them.

Here are some examples from last year’s class. We photographed the children’s chatterbox and I scribed exactly what the child told us. We then displayed these so that we could get to know each other.
